My Thoughts

The Great And Terrible Writer's Block!

February 4, 2011
I know some of you may have noticed that I haven't completed a chapter in two months now, and I would like to apologize for the delay. I have the unspeakable curse.
Writer's Block. *Woman screams in the background.*
Now, you must understand, every writer goes through this. (Actually, don't take my word on this. I really don't know. But it's common enough.) There are several different types of Writer's Block. Some don't know what to write next, others lose interest, ect. My type is a special case where I still have interest, and I know what I'm going to write, but the problem is I just don't know how to go about it. I have a list of things that need to be done soon, but the order and flow of it I'm still trying to work out. I almost have chapter 22 done, I just need to get off my lazy bum, resituate it so I can be a lazy bum while writing, and get it done. Feel free to yell at me or send me hatemail. It's good motivation. But I must please ask, no assassination attempts. If I die, the story is going down with me. Please restrain your ninja assassins for a little bit longer.
Begging your forgiveness,
Me

Who Do I Relate To Most In My Story?

September 11, 2010

Blaze.
Yeah, I probably relate to the bad guy most out of all the characters in my story, and I have a reason. Blaze has an uncontrollable temper and every choice he makes is out of pure emotion. He has to have a reason to do what he does, so he lets his feelings guide him. When I write about him, every discision he makes is explained through his temper---and we can all relate to what he feels. It makes it easier to sympathize with him when I understand him so much better.
The main characters i...

Learn To Love The Nerd In You.

September 4, 2010
I have come to realize that people don't appreciate the nerdiness of being a nerd. I am a nerd and I love it. This weeks post is on how to love the nerd in you as well.
I've heard some people say things like "I don't like to use big words. It makes me sound too smart." My response is "Yeah, make sure you put that in your job application." Not to be rude or anything, but people who intentionally sound dumb, are dumb. You don't have to be like me---regular library attender, lover of grammar book...

King Kenton!

August 24, 2010
In chapter 14 of Windsinger the King of Adria is names King Kenton. You may be wondering why I am telling you this, but if you want to know then keep on reading. The King's name was originally King Robert---the first name that came to mind when it came time to name him. Later on in the chapter I changed it to King Kenton in honor of my strange and hilarious brother Kenny (short for Kenton). Sometimes he calls himself King Kenton The First---don't ask me why. He suggested it and I thought that...

Humans VS Intelligent Wolves

August 9, 2010

My strange and awesome brother Kenny asked me a very peculiar question the other day which eventually led to a family discussion and lots of arguments: Who would win in a war between wolves of human intelligence and humans? We pondered this for a long time and came up with various answers. It aslo depends on the scenario. If it was one on one, a wolf would win unless the human had certain advantages such as a rocketlauncher or something. But we mostly go on race against race. If we had all pl...

Fillers.

July 30, 2010

Today I'd like to address the issue of fillers. What are fillers you ask? They are chapters like Chapter 10 in Windsinger. Usually nothing of extreme importance happens. If you think my story is starting to get boring, don't worry, chapter 11 will be sufficaintly action-packed. Chapter 10 is pretty much all character building. I needed to build a personality for Winterleaf. Chapter 10 is somewhat shorter than the rest, but that's because it's practically all talk. Well, that's what fillers ar...

Shadowman

July 27, 2010

So, as usual my overly active brain has concocted another story. Don't worry, I'm still writing my current one, this one is to be save until I further have an idea exactly what it's about. The stories are always hazy when you start them out. This one is going to be about pirates. And Shadowmen. Shadowmen, as I have thought up so far, are rare people who can possess other people's bodies by going inside of them and controlling them. They can also teleport within sight distance. The only th...

Many a Thing...

July 21, 2010
Okay, so I was wearing these whitening strips (nightmare, let me tell ya) and I noticed I was salivating at an obnoxious level. Then I thought; dogs salivate before they eat, does that mean that some weird animalistic part of me wants to eat these disgusting strips of gel, despite the fact that they feel uncomfortably a lot like bubble-wrap in my mouth? How close are we to animals in commonly unnoticed and kind of awkward ways?
On a less disturbing note (or rather, a more tragic note)...

Family Advice

July 6, 2010
I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that my family has given me lot's of feedback in writing my story. For example, my dad told me to write several pages describing a character that you never see again. My sister suggested creating a character that is super important and build up that person, only to have them abruptly die of something stupid like falling down the stairs. And then my bright cousin Jace gave me some lovely ideas for the ending: (Please note that Daisy and Digger...

Curiosity killed the Cat...?

July 5, 2010
It has come to my attention that the saying "curiosity killed the cat" as this post was so rightfully named, is highly biased. I mean, it all depends on what you're curious about, really. For example, let's say that you were curious to see what life would be like without taking any risks and staying clear of life-threatening, or otherwise, stupid situations. Oooh, so scary. I'm an overly cautious cat that is doomed to die of a well-ment curiosity all because some old guy probably decided he h...

About Me

I'm a future author and I love to read, write, and draw. I know no one would ever take the time to read these things, but I have a heck of a time writing them anyway! There is more info about me on my home page. :D
